THE HISTORY AND HERITAGE OF HANOVER HOTEL IN CENTRAL LONDON
Built in the year 1859 by the celebrated master builder William Chinnery Mitchell, Hanover Hotel is more than one and a half centuries old. Pimlico, the exact location of this accommodation, was called 'South Belgravia' at that time. At that time it was 23 years old. Pimlico was designed by Mitchell along with 'master of masters', Thomas Cubitt. Together, they transformed this part of London into an exquisite and picturesque setting.HISTORY AND HERITAGE OF HANOVER HOTEL

This central London Hotel accommodation, as it stands today, is at No.30 in St. George's Drive. It is one of the two great mid-Victorian structures, which were later converted into hotels. Both the buildings enjoyed illustrious families as their residents. The first owning tenant of No.30 was the honourable Algernon William Fulke Greville (1841-1910), a 'Groom in Waiting' to Queen Victoria. The second owner of the No.30 was the powerful landowner, the Honourable Edward Bouchier Savile, who took the property in 1867 and remained here till 1889.

In 1891, it was taken over by the rich businessman William Charkes Higgins, who resided till 1910.
The architecture of Hanover Hotel is characterised by mathematically proportioned rooms. It also has a mansion terrace, which was designed to give the appearance of a palatial unit. These terraces were a characteristic feature of Pimlico architecture, and made Pimlico quite unique in London and Westminster.

Today, Pimlico enjoys a cosmopolitan atmosphere partly due to its central location and efficient network system. This, together with its illustrious history, gives Pimlico a mixed essence of the conventional and the modern. And that is exactly what you would feel if you stepped into the Hanover Hotel. Here, we promise you that essence of the past combined with the luxury of the present.
